Alexander was brought up in Liverpool and discovered flowers and gardens at the age of thirteen, encouraged by his family, the passion continued to grow. Arranging flowers at church, lead him to create floral arrangements for Tower College, and Scarisbrick Hall, part of Christian Schools Ltd, just at the age of fifteen; whilst also planning, maintaining and developing these gardens with his brother at both sites. Alexander went on to study at the University of Wales Lampeter, also working on the gardens of Christian schools Ltd at the same time.  After gaining his degree in Philosophy, he left Wales and Liverpool to start his comprehensive training with Pulbrook and Gould and went on to Establish Alexander Collier Flowers.
